Unintended or Intended Consequences?

I vote for the latter. Control the food supply and you control the sheep.

Eat this. Don't eat that. Eat this instead, but not too much of it. Scratch that. Now eat this. What were we thinking? Don't eat that! Eat this. It's better for you. Now you're eating too much of this and not enough of that. Don't grow this food, grow that energy source to fight "global warming". Now feed the hungry. What? Don't look be hind the curtain! Again, from the top. Eat this...

The communists/socialists/elites in Washington, and the coasts must be beaming with pride. THEY won't suffer for their ineptitude, but the rest of us will. But we still keep listening to them and begging for their "wisdom" to solve the problems that they themselves create. When's the next mega asteroid supposed to fly by and destroy all human life on Earth? Can't wait. Darwin's theory has to have a huge hole in it, because as a species we haven't been able to evolve ourselves into extinction because of our collective stupidity.

Green therapy

Why not a fictitious solution for a fictitious anxiety based on a fictitious problem? Give me a break.

SOURCE

I know it's hip and a badge of honor these days to proudly announce to everyone that you have a therapist, but this is just too much to let go without a smirk, a rolling of the eyes, and a schadenfreudean chuckle. The brainwashing must be working better than expected. The lemmings are now seeking forgiveness for their indoctrinated "guilt". How precious.

Cry and seek touchy-feely moderated solace for "the children" and now "the planet". I'm waiting for that crying Indian from those 1970s commercials to make a comeback.

Random unenlightened bitterness

On this most glorious annual day for big government liberals, I offer some random thoughts...

No, Mr. Obama and all of the other elitist Democrats and Republicans, the vast majority of the great unwashed living in flyover country aren't "bitter" because of the lack of help from the government, it's the EXCESS of government "help" burdened upon the American taxpayer. Stay out of our way, keep your dirty fingers out of everyone's personal and professional business, and watch the bitterness magically disappear. Not going to happen. Screw you.

Speaking of the American taxpayer... Don't get me started, especially today. Don't choke on the fruits of MY labor. Better yet, please do. I'd suggest that it would thin out the bureaucratic gene pool, but there is always another waiting in the wings to feast off of what is left of the carcass of the producers in the private sector. Bite me.

Good news in the inner sphere of family and friends. Very welcome.

My wife is home for a couple of months. Another good thing.

How's that global warming thing going? Piss off you lemmings.

It's baaaack!

Just when you thought it had died a horrible (and necessary) death in the mid 1980's. At first I thought it was just an ill-advised reconstituted nostalgic novelty, but I have seen more and more of these during my daily commute. Unlike you baby boomers, I don't really care to relive my formative teens and early 20's.

As was true 20 years ago is true today: I don't give a rat's ass that you're carting around your precious little munchkin(s). Not my problem or responsibility. As I've observed over the years, it's been parents like YOU who need to pay better attention to the road, remove your cell phone from your ear, and SLOW the f**k down on your way to daycare and soccer practice, not me. I see a sign like that I get the hell out of your way NOT to protect your child from me, but to protect me from YOU!

Not again!

But diversity and multiculturalism is "GOOD"

Here's a fun little snippet from a 2005 speech on the perils of multiculturalism by former Colorado Governor Richard Lamm (D). Yes, you read that correctly, HE'S A DEMOCRAT!

SNOPES VERIFICATION = TRUE

I HAVE A PLAN TO DESTROY AMERICA
RICHARD D. LAMM

I have a secret plan to destroy America. If you believe, as many do, that America is too smug, too white bread, too self-satisfied, too rich, lets destroy America. It is not that hard to do. History shows that nations are more fragile than their citizens think. No nation in history has survived the ravages of time. Arnold Toynbee observed that all great civilizations rise and they all fall, and that "an autopsy of history would show that all great nations commit suicide." here is my plan:

I. We must first make America a bilingual-bicultural country. History shows, in my opinion, that no nation can survive the tension, conflict, and antagonism of two competing languages and cultures. It is a blessing for an individual to be bilingual; it is a curse for a society to be bilingual. One scholar, Seymour Martin Lipset, put it this way:

The histories of bilingual and bicultural societies that do not assimilate are histories of turmoil, tension, and tragedy. Canada, Belgium, Malaysia, Lebanon -all face crises of national existence in which minorities press for autonomy, if not independence. Pakistan and Cyprus have divided. Nigeria suppressed an ethnic rebellion. France faces difficulties with its Basques, Bretons, and Corsicans.

II. I would then invent "multiculturalism" and encourage immigrants to maintain their own culture. I would make it an article of belief that all cultures are equal: that there are no cultural differences that are important. I would declare it an article of faith that the black and Hispanic dropout rate is only due to prejudice and discrimination by the majority. Every other explanation is out-of-bounds.

III. We can make the United States a "Hispanic Québec" without much effort. The key is to celebrate diversity rather than unity. As Benjamin Schwarz said in the Atlantic Monthly recently:

...the apparent success of our own multiethnic and multicultural experiment might have been achieved not by tolerance but by hegemony. Without the dominance that once dictated ethnocentrically, and what it meant to be an American, we are left with only tolerance and pluralism to hold us together.

I would encourage all immigrants to keep their own language and culture. I would replace the melting pot metaphor with a salad bowl metaphor. It is important to insure that we have various cultural subgroups living in America reinforcing their differences rather than Americans, emphasizing their similarities.

IV. Having done all this, I would make our fastest growing demographic group the least educated - I would add a second underclass, unassimilated, undereducated, and antagonistic to our population. I would have this second underclass have a 50% drop out rate from school.

V. I would then get the big foundations and big business to give these efforts lots of money. I would invest in ethnic identity, and I would establish the cult of victimology. I would get all minorities to think their lack of success was all the fault of the majority - I would start a grievance industry blaming all minority failure on the majority population.

VI. I would establish dual citizenship and promote divided loyalties. I would "celebrate diversity." "diversity" is a wonderfully seductive word. It stresses differences rather than commonalities. Diverse people worldwide are mostly engaged in hating each other-that is, when they are not killing each other. A diverse," peaceful, or stable society is against most historical precedent. People undervalue the unity it takes to keep a nation together, and we can take advantage of this myopia. Look at the ancient Greeks. Dorf's World History tells us:

The Greeks believed that they belonged to the same race; they possessed a common language and literature; and they worshiped the same gods. All Greece took part in the Olympic games in honor of Zeus and all Greeks venerated the shrine of Apollo at Delphi. A common enemy Persia threatened their liberty. Yet, all of these bonds together were not strong enough to overcome two factors . . . (local patriotism and geographical conditions that nurtured political divisions . . .) If we can put the emphasis on the "pluribus," instead of the "unum," we can balkanize America as surely as Kosovo.

VII. Then I would place all these subjects off limits - make it taboo to talk about. I would find a word similar to "heretic" in the 16th century - that stopped discussion and paralyzed thinking. Words like "racist", "xenophobe" that halts argument and conversation. Having made America a bilingual-bicultural country, having established multiculturalism, having the large foundations fund the doctrine of "victimology", I would next make it impossible to enforce our immigration laws. I would develop a mantra - "that because immigration has been good for America, it must always be good." I would make every individual immigrant sympatric and ignore the cumulative impact.

VIII. Lastly, I would censor Victor Hanson Davis's book Mexifornia - this book is dangerous - it exposes my plan to destroy America. So please, please - if you feel that America deserves to be destroyed - please, please - don't buy this book! This guy is on to my plan.

"the smart way to keep people passive and obedient is to strictly limit the spectrum of acceptable opinion, but allow very lively debate within that spectrum." - Noam Chomsky, American linguist and US media and foreign policy critic.

PS
Both Governor Lamm and the writer of the e-mail misidentify the author of the book Mexifornia, whose correct name is Victor Davis Hanson.

Private property?

Make that PUBLIC property.

SOURCE

I don't condone this activity, but it does prove a point.

Let me get this straight. You supposedly "own" your property but if you don't pay your property taxes the government can take it away from you. When you default on a car loan or home mortgage the bank takes it away because they financed the loan, but when you default on your taxes...

So much for private property in this country. Another example of what you have really belongs to the government, especially if you don't comply with their rules. Ever tried to get away with not paying taxes on YOUR income - money YOU worked for, not them? By the way, paying your income taxes is voluntary - but that is another story for another day.

Welcome to Amerika, Comrade...

UPDATE
The reason the government can get away with this legally is because they no longer grant Land Patents to property owners. Having a land patent on a piece of property prevents the government the ability to tax the property or regulate the use of the property, because THEY DO NOT OWN it, YOU do. It's just like having your own sovereign nation. Can't have that... So after 1873, the government and the banking industry made an arrangement and since then agreed to issue deeds against the property in lieu of a land patent, which is actually held/owned by the government. In other words, you're renting (by your property taxes) land from the government. The fiscal "ownership" is merely a financial transaction of agreed value of the property between "renters". This is the reason the government can tax your land, force you to get construction permits AND deny them, etc., because they are the TRUE owners of your property. All of that is fine and good IF that is what is clearly conveyed when you buy your property, but it isn't. You're left with the mistaken impression that it is yours, which ultimately of course it isn't.

One notable quote from the Wikipedia entry on land patents:

Contrasted with Warranty Deeds; most people today obtain Real Estate by contract, then on fulfillment of the contract they transfer control of land by Warranty or some other form of Deed.
The "Warranty Deed" is merely a "color of title". Color of Title means: "That which is a semblance or appearance of title, but not title in fact or in law." Howth v. Farrar, C.C.A. Tex.; 94 F.2d 654, 658; McCoy v. Lowrie, 42 Wash. 2d 24, Black's Law Sixth Ed.
